THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: THE LOVE OF GOD

I was reading 1Corinthians 13( better known as "The Love Chapter") the other day. I was asking God why He chose the word 'charity'. When I think of charity, I think of doing something for others that they could not do for themselves or giving something to others that they do not have. The Lord responded by saying "exactly. Charity is bestowing on others what has been bestowed upon you". Wow think about that! He had me go back and reread the chapter thinking of Him loving me in this way daily. " Charity endures long and is patient and kind: charity never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude and does not act unbecomingly. Charity does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of evil done to it( it pays no attention to a suffered wrong) It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Charity bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening. Charity never fails..." God has bestowed this love on us. Everyday, unconditionally, we receive this love. "We love Him because He first loved us." Now we should go joyfully and do the same to all those we meet.

William Wilberforce on emotions

"We can barely look anywhere in the Bible without finding abundant proof that God wants us to experience a faith that includes our emotions. Love, zeal, gratitude, joy, hope, trust (each one of them mentioned in the Bible) were not given to us to make us weak; instead, we are even commanded to experience these emotions as part of our faith's duties. They are an integral part of the worship that is acceptable to God."
